This comprehensive degree allows you to explore aspects of psychology alongside your legal studies – leading to opportunities across a wide range of industries. This course is ideal if you’re considering a legal career, or a role within psychology that requires a background in law. You’ll also be prepared in part for the new Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE), or to progress onto a Bar Practice Course if you wish to become a barrister.

Entry requirements
At University of Essex Online, we believe that everyone should be able to access education. That is why we offer two different entry routes onto our LLB (Hons) Law with Psychology, which considers academic or work-based experience.
Academic entry route
You must have the following qualifications as a minimum:
- three A-levels or equivalent
Work experience entry route
You must meet the following criteria:
- GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above, or equivalent
- three years’ relevant work experience
English language requirement
Our courses are taught in English so to study with us you must have an IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 or equivalent. If you don’t hold an IELTS or equivalent qualification, you will be required to pass a free online English test to assess your proficiency.

Assessment
All assessments are delivered through our virtual learning environment (VLE). You’ll submit assignments through the VLE, such as written reports, discussion forum participation or reflective journal entries.
We also have a policy of ensuring that the work submitted by students is authentic – we use a well-established electronic monitoring system to check for plagiarism.
Career prospects
The online LLB (Hons) Law with Psychology is a qualifying law degree (QLD) . If you’d like to qualify as a lawyer, you must complete your degree studies in no more than six years and achieve a minimum of a Lower Second Class Honours degree.
Legal knowledge is highly valued by wide a range of sectors such as management, government and the voluntary sector. Additionally, your psychology skills will also be beneficial to roles within healthcare, criminal justice, the civil service and security services.
